Day 10 – Faith in Your Day-to-Day

2 Timothy 2:13

“If we are unfaithful, he remains faithful, for he cannot deny who he is.”

Faith is a word heard very often. But what does faith really entail? The Bible defines faith in Hebrews 11:1 as the “reality of what we hope for, evidence of things we cannot see.” One of my favourite verses about faith is 2 Timothy 2:13, where it says, “If we are unfaithful, he remains faithful, for He cannot deny who he is.” God’s faithfulness is unwavering, as is he. We do not blindly agree to something unknown, but it involves personal trust in the one who is the author and finisher of our faith.

What does this look like? As someone who is a bit of a control freak, who likes to plan things top to tail, faith and this personal trust in God has not always come easy. Not knowing what is ahead and therefore not being able to prepare at times can make me anxious. But a truth that I have complete faith in, is that God will always have my best interests at heart, maybe even more so than myself. He is a good father and will never give me anything intended for harm. He cannot deny who He is.

I have this faith, then, not in my ability, but in our creator who yearns for an intimate relationship with us, someone who is King of Kings and Lord of Lords but still knows our name. This revelation can allow us to believe for better things in our lives, in the confidence faith gives us. This allows us to live and walk in faith, that our decisions are governed by faith, our actions are done in faith, as we trust in the promises of God.

But because of this trust in our Almighty God, if we pray and have faith for things, and it doesn’t come to pass, it is not because God is not faithful. We trust that he has the best things in store for us, and everything is done according to his good and perfect plan. Pastor Michael Raj recently said in a sermon that our circumstances will never change the character of God. He is faithful. So, we can be faithful. What a great revelation! Our circumstances do not have power over God, rather God is powerful over our circumstances!

Will you let him lead you into more faithfulness today? Let him reveal areas in which you may need to surrender in faith, trusting and believing in the evidence of things you cannot see.
