Day 4 – Faith That Moves Forward

Philippians 3:14

I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

Faith is not static; it’s dynamic and ever-growing. In Philippians 3:14, Paul paints a picture of relentless pursuit—a forward motion fuelled by faith. He doesn’t speak of settling for past achievements or getting comfortable in his current state. Instead, he presses on, with his eyes fixed on the heavenly prize.

Sometimes, it’s tempting to settle—to stop pushing forward because the path seems too difficult or the progress too slow. But faith calls us to keep moving, to keep growing, and to keep believing even when the finish line feels far away.

Think of the Israelites standing at the edge of the Red Sea. Behind them, Pharaoh’s army pursued with chariots and soldiers and ahead lay an impossible barrier of water. Yet, in that moment, God called Moses to stretch out his staff, and the sea parted. The Israelites had to take a step of faith onto the dry seabed, trusting God’s provision despite the overwhelming circumstances. Faith calls us to step forward, even when the path ahead may seem impossible.

God often stretches our faith in seasons of challenge or discomfort. James reminds us in his letter that these trials are opportunities for growth. When our faith is tested, endurance develops, and as endurance grows, we become stronger and more complete in our faith. These moments are not meant to break us but to build us—to deepen our trust and strengthen our reliance on God. Just as a muscle grows stronger through stretching and resistance, so does our faith.

Don’t settle for where you are. Keep pressing on. Keep trusting. Keep growing. Faith isn’t a one-time decision—it’s a daily choice to trust God’s plan, even when the outcome isn’t clear to us. It’s choosing to keep walking, even when the path feels steep, or the progress feels slow. Just like the Israelites had to keep walking through the parted sea with walls of water on either side, we too are called to keep moving forward.

Every step of faith we take, no matter how small, builds a deeper reliance on God and draws us closer to Him. So don’t let fear, doubt, or complacency hold you back. Keep pressing on towards the goal.
